Share market update: Bank shares gain; HDFC Bank rises 2%

NEW DELHI: Bank shares were trading with gains in Tuesday's morning session.

Shares of HDFC Bank (up 2.2 per cent) , Punjab National Bank (up 1.05 per cent) , ICICI Bank (up 0.87 per cent) , IDFCBANK (up 0.77 per cent) , IndusInd Bank (up 0.7 per cent) , Axis Bank (up 0.68 per cent) , Bank of Baroda (up 0.47 per cent) , Federal Bank (up 0.34 per cent) and Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 0.33 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.98 per cent up at 30316.25 around 09:55 am.


Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 130.35 points at 11838.25 , while the BSE Sensex was up 447.59 points at 40319.9 .

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 42 were trading in the green, while 8 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Manappuram Fin, Tata Motors, SBI, PNB, ITC, Bank of Baroda and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
