RBI appoints Sanjay Kumar, Sonali Sen as new EDs

Mumbai: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed Sanjay Kumar Hansda and Sonali Sen Gupta as executive director (ED) to the bank. Gupta's term will begin with effect from October 09, 2025, while Hansda started his term on October 6 2025.

As ED, Gupta will look after the consumer education and protection department, financial inclusion and development department and inspection department. Hansda will look after the department of economic and policy research.

Prior to the promotion, Hansda was serving as adviser to the department of economic and policy research. He also served as adviser, monetary policy department, and as officer-in-charge, Internal debt management department.


Gupta held the position of regional director for Karnataka at the Bangalore regional office before the promotion. She is also RBI's nominee director on the board of Indian Overseas Bank.
