Market Now: These stocks surged over 15% today

NEW DELHI: Shares of Spice Mobility (up 19.72 per cent), Bharat Rasayan (up 19.61 per cent), RattanIndia Infra (up 19.54 per cent), Oriental Carbon (up 16.79 per cent) and Excel Crop Care (up 15.13 per cent) surged over 15 per cent in Thursday's trade on NSE.

Benchmark indices scaled record high levels as soon as markets opened. The BSE Sensex crossed the psychological level of 32,000 in early trade, while NSE Nifty index was trading above the 9,850-mark.

A positive lead from Asia, plus the anticipation of slower-than-expected hikes in US interest rate boosted market sentiment.

Among gainers, FMCG stocks led, with ITC and Marico gaining 3 per cent and 2 per cent respectively.

Private banks too displayed a robust performance with Yes Bank, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank gaining more than one per cent each.

However, PSU banks slipped on account of poor performance by heavyweights such as SBI, PNB and Syndicate Bank.

Benchmark Nifty50 index was 66 points up at 9,881, while the 30-share Sensex was 248 points up at 32,052 around 1.40 pm (IST).

In the Nifty50 pack, 38 stocks were trading in green, while 13 stocks were in red.

On BSE, 1,366 stocks were advancing whereas 1,222 stocks were lagging.
