Market Now: Over 70 stocks hit fresh 52-week highs

NEW DELHI: Over 70 stocks, including Adani Transmission, Ashok Leyland, Avanti Feeds, Bajaj Auto, Bharti Airtel, Federal Bank, Bharti Infratel, Havells India, Oberoi Realty, Hindalco Industries, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Tata Chemicals, Jubilant Foodworks and Vedanta hit their fresh 52-week highs on NSE in Tuesday's trade, despite a cautious market sentiment.

Meanwhile, stocks such as Nu Tek India, Sujana Universal, Malwa Cotton, TV Vision, Sri Adhikari, Khaitan Elect, SAB Events & Governance Now Media, Vardhman Poly, Hindustan Media, Punjab Sind Bank, KSS Ltd and JMT Auto were among the 20 stocks that touched their fresh 52-week lows.

Equity benchmarks appeared dull due to sustained selling in bank, metal and auto stocks.

The Nifty50 index was 16 points down at 10,214, while Sensex was 69 points down at 32,564 around 1 pm (IST).

NTPC, SBI, Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular, DLF, ICICI Bank, Bharti Infratel and YES Bank were among the most traded stocks on NSE.

Among the gainers in the Nifty50 index, Bharat Petroleum Corporation, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharti Airtel gained up to 2 per cent.

On the other hand, Zee Entertainment, Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, Tata Motors and UPL were the top losers among the Nifty stocks.

On the NSE, 983 stocks were advancing, compared with 551 stocks declining and 413 stocks remaining unchanged.
