Market Now: Nifty Metal index choppy; Jindal Steel, SAIL down 1%

NEW DELHI: Jindal Steel & Power (down 1.34 per cent), Steel Authority of India ( SAIL) (down 1.03 per cent), Vedanta (down 0.66 per cent), JSW Steel (down 0.63 per cent), Tata Steel (down 0.59 per cent) and APL Apollo Tubes (down 0.33 per cent) were losing in Tuesday's afternoon trade.

However, shares of Jindal Stainless (Hisar) (up 2.04 per cent), Hindustan Zinc (up 1.84 per cent), Hindustan Copper (up 0.72 per cent), National Aluminium Company (up 0.58 per cent) and Hindalco Industries (up 0.18 per cent) were trading up.

The Nifty Metal stock was trading 0.30 per cent down at 3,844 around 12.30 pm (IST). Benchmark Nifty50 index was trading almost flat at 10,227, while the BSE Sensex was 0.13 per cent down at 32,592.

Among the 51 stocks in Nifty index, 27 were trading in the green, while 23 were in the red.

Shares of NTPC, State Bank of India, DLF, Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular, ICICI Bank, Bharti Infratel, YES Bank, Hindalco, Vedanta Ltd, PFC and NHPC were among the most traded securities on the National Stock Exchange.

Shares of CMM Infraprojects, Aries Agro, Onelife Capital, Hitachi Home, Sakuma Exports, Maan Aluminium, Bhagyanagar Ind, Genus Paper & Boards, Sree Rayalaseema, Sasken Comm, Saregama India, Shivam Autotech hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade.

On the other hand, Nu Tek India, TV Vision, Sri Adhikari, Khaitan Elect, SAB Events & Governance Now Media, Vardhman Poly, Total Transport Systems, Hindustan Media, JMT Auto, Punjab Sind Bank and KSS hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.

On the NSE, 842 stocks were advancing, compared with 782 stocks declining and 347 stocks remaining unchanged.
