Market Now: Nifty FMCG index up; United Spirits zooms 18%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty FMCG index was trading 1.7 per cent up at 26,080 around 01:10 pm (IST), with shares of United Spirits (up 18.25 per cent) soaring up by 18 per cent.

United Breweries (up 8.12 per cent), Emami (up 3.44 per cent), Tata Global Beverages (up 3.15 per cent) and ITC (up 2.76 per cent) were the other top gainers in the Nifty FMCG index.

However, Hindustan Unilever (down 1.72 per cent), Marico (down 1.08 per cent), Dabur India (down 0.54 per cent) and Britannia Industries (down 0.52 per cent) were trading in the red around that time.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 4 points up at 10,348, while the BSE Sensex was 95 points up at 33,242.

Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 29 were trading in the green, while 21 were in the red.

Nifty Pharma index was trading as the top gainer among the sectoral indices on NSE in afternoon session on Friday.

Shares of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Cipla, Aurobindo Pharma and Cadila Healthcare were the top gainer pharma stocks.

Adani Ports SEZ, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Finance, Tata Motors, Aurobindo Pharma and UPL were among the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.

However, YES Bank, Bharti Infratel, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Indian Oil Corporation, Bharti Airteland Wipro were the top losers in the Nifty50 index.
