Market Now: FMCG stocks gain; United Breweries up 5%

Market Now: FMCG stocks gain; United Breweries up 5%
NEW DELHI: FMCG stocks such as Chaman Lal Setia Exports (up 6.96 per cent), United Breweries (up 5.08 per cent), Sanwaria Consumer (up 4.96 per cent) and AVT Natural Products (up 4.09 per cent) gained up to 7 per cent in Wednesday's trade, keeping the BSE Fast Moving Consumer Goods index up.

The S&P BSE Fast Moving Consumer Goods index was trading 0.38 per cent up at 10,253 around 01:20 pm (IST). Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 89 points up at 10,296, while the BSE Sensex was 447 points up at 33,054.

Shares of EID Parry (India) (up 3.57 per cent), Dhampur Sugar Mills (up 3.32 per cent), Gujarat Ambuja Exports (up 2.44 per cent) and Bajaj Corp (up 2.21 per cent) were also gaining in the BSE FMCG index.

However, IFB Agro Industries (down 4.60 per cent), Waterbase (down 3.06 per cent), Tata Global Beverages (down 2.51 per cent), Hatsun Agro Products (down 2.11 per cent) and Kokuyo Camlin (down 2.11 per cent) were among top losers in the index around the same time.

State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Axis Bank, Tata Motors, Wipro and Infosys were among the top gainers in the Sensex index.

However, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC, HDFC Bank, Lupin, Sun pharma, Asian Paints and Maruti Suzuki were among the top losers.
