Market Now: FMCG stocks dull; United Spirits falls nearly 3%

NEW DELHI: FMCG stocks United Spirits (down 2.58 per cent), Colgate-Palmolive (India) (down 1.16 per cent), Emami (down 1.02 per cent) and Godrej Consumer Products (down 0.94 per cent) were trading in the negative terrain in afternoon trade on Thursday, keeping the sectoral index in the red.

The Nifty FMCG index was trading 0.25 per cent down at 25,997 around 02:55 pm (IST).

Shares of Britannia Industries (down 0.81 per cent), GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (down 0.68 per cent), Marico (down 0.64 per cent), United Breweries (down 0.17 per cent), Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Healthcare (down 0.15 per cent) and Hindustan Unilever (down 0.04 per cent) were also among the losers.


However, shares of Godrej Industries (up 1.23 per cent), Tata Global Beverages (up 1.08 per cent), Dabur India (up 0.56 per cent), Jubilant Foodworks (up 0.50 per cent) and ITC (up 0.04 per cent) were in the green in the FMCG index around that time.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 95 points at 10,250, while the BSE Sensex was up 340 points at 33,373.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 were trading in the green, while 19 were in the red.

Ashok Leyland, Rane Holdings, V-Mart Retail and Zenith Birla (India) hit fresh 52-week highs on NSE, while Adani Power, Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, Balrampur Chini Mills and Bosch hit fresh 52-week lows on NSE during Thursday's trade.
