Market Now: BSE Midcap index down; Shriram Transport, Berger Paints among to drags

NEW DELHI: Imitating the bearish stance of benchmark Sensex, the BSE Midcap index was trading in the negative territory in morning trade on Tuesday.

The S&P BSE Midcap index was trading 0.19 per cent down at 17,073, while the Sensex was 0.32 per cent down at 33,350 around 10.15 am (IST). The Nifty50 index was 0.41 per cent down at 10,279.

Shares of Shriram Transport Finance Company (down 1.70 per cent), Alkem Laboratories (down 1.63 per cent), Berger Paints (India) (down 1.55 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services (down 1.52 per cent) and Tata Power Company (down 1.50 per cent) were among the top losers in the BSE Midcap index.

However, shares of Divi's Laboratories (up 2.63 per cent), Kansai Nerolac Paints (up 2.19 per cent), Larsen & Toubro Infotech (up 1.67 per cent), Ajanta Pharma (up 1.42 per cent), Natco Pharma (up 1.38 per cent), Endurance Technologies (up 1.21 per cent) and National Aluminium Company (up 1.16 per cent) were among the gainers in the midcap space around that time.

Shares of Dr Reddy's Lab, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, Lupin, Relaince Industries and Tata Steel were seen in the green in the Sensex index.

On the other hand, Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Auto, ITC and Tata Consultancy Services were experiencing the selling pressure.
