Market now: Apollo Tubes, Jindal Steel boost Nifty Metal index

Amid subdued session on Thursday, NSE Nifty Metal index was one of the few indices trading in the green, up by 1.53 per cent at 2,969.7.

Shares of Orissa Minerals Development Company Ltd. (up 6.19 per cent), APL Apollo Tubes Ltd. (up 6.08 per cent), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (up 3.99 per cent), Tata Steel Ltd. (up 3.04 per cent) and JSW Steel Ltd. (up 2.46 per cent) were among top gainers.

However, Coal India (down 0.28 per cent), NMDC Ltd. (down 0.26 per cent), MOIL Ltd. (down 0.23 per cent), Welspun Corp Ltd. (down 0.73 per cent) and National Aluminium Company Ltd. (down 0.77) were among top losers.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 3.10 points at 9,660.8 at around 01:04 pm.

Among the 51 stocks in Nifty index, 20 were trading in green, while 31 were in red.

Shares of JSW Steel, DLF, ICICI Bank, Tata Steel, Sun Pharma were among most traded securities on the National Stock Exchange.

BSE Sensex was 24.79 points at 31,246.49.

Shares of Nagarjuna Agri, Shankara Building Products Ltd., Nath BioGenes, Bhansali Engg and Siyaram Silk hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Northgate Com, Shilpi Cable Tec, Videocon Ind, Nitin Fire Prot and Ortel Communications Ltd. hit their fresh 52 week low in trade.
