As many as 32 stocks in Nifty index settled in green with Cipla, Bajaj Finserv among others gaining up to 4.21 per cent.

NEW DELHI: Domestic equity markets ended higher on Tuesday on account of buying by institutional investors as well as a recovery in the rupee.

The Sensex, which opened in the red, advanced 114 points to settle at 35,378.60, while the broader NSE Nifty index climbed 42.60 points to close tad below 10,700-mark.

As many as 32 stocks in Nifty index settled in green with Cipla, Bajaj Finserv, Maruti Suzuki, Lupin and Sun Pharma gaining up to 4.21 per cent. On the other hand, Vedanta, Bharti Infratel, ICICI Bank, HDFC and Ultratech Cement dipped between 0.50 per cent and 3.70 per cent.

Mustafa Nadeem, CEO, Epic Research said, “An overall technical view of the market suggests that we are in a range bound trading scenario with upside capped at 10750 and 10900 while on the downside we are protected at the recent base of 10600. Since it is a range where we may not see bigger directional move we are witnessing momentum in specific sectors and stock-specific approach.”
