Analysts' recommendations on financial stocks
Kotak Bank has stood out as being one of the better possible trades. Banks are holding out the private banks also and that had a decent finish on Friday so that is looking like a decent enough buy.
The stocks that you are recommending in today’s session?
Well so far Kotak Bank has stood out as being one of the better possible trades. Banks are holding out the private banks also and that had a decent finish on Friday so that is looking like a decent enough buy.
HDFC & HDFC Bank have been doing well: Deepak Mohoni
On the charts HDFC twins, HDFC in particular or some of the other housing finance say an LIC housing finance or Dewan Housing or even a GIC Housing Finance which has been forgotten for a while now?
Buy ICICI Bank among banking stocks: Suresh Mahadevan, UBS Securities
What is your take on banking stocks?
Banks we may be selectively buyers of something like an ICICI Bank in large cap we would be buyers of. So those are some of the big names I would recommend.
ICICI Bank is likely to outperform in banking stocks: Sudarshan Sukhani
ICICI Bank which has corrected a bit after from Friday highs. If banks are going to go up ICICI Bank is likely to be an outperformer in that section.
Buy SBI; target 2850: Ashwani Gujral
What is the take on SBI?
State Bank we buy with a stop of about 2700, target of 2850.
Buy Kotak Mahindra Bank; target 433: Ashwani Gujral
What is your take on Kotak Mahindra Bank?
Kotak Mahindra Bank we buy with a stop of about 398, target of 433.
Banking stocks are a long term play: Sangeeta Purushottam
Last time we spoke you were very bullish on the entire banking pack, as to how the valuations are now looking attractive, has the list gone beyond that?
No, there are actually pockets where there is value. There are sectors which are trading below their long term averages, for example the capital goods sector if you look at valuations seem to be factoring in most of the bad news. It still is a sector where people are not that comfortable given what is happening but if you look at just the charts on the valuations, they are looking attractive.
So if you want to buy purely on valuations and have faith that growth will come back at some point in time, then I would just add that to the list. Banks just to go back to what I had said are an attractive longer term play. In the short term, you would still have some risk that they could underperform particularly given the huge outperformance that they had seen last year but you have to play banks if you are playing any economic recovery story and from that point of view, this is good long term play and a lot of the PSU banks are not really expensive. So there is a mix there, even though they would have outperformed last year.
