Mumbai : RBI governor Sanjay Malhotra has stressed on the need to follow the borrowing calendar for state bonds, in a conference of states finance secretaries held on Thursday. In the meeting, the governor emphasised on the importance of fiscal discipline for promoting economic growth.

He also stressed on the need for the states to focus on improving quality of expenditure and ensuring prudence in off-budget borrowings.
