Why Rahul Bheke feels ISL is a great addition to the Indian footballing calendar
ISL franchises have much bigger budgets than their I-League counterparts.

He further added that money aside, the learning curve in the ISL is massive for Indian footballers owing to the guidance of foreign coaches and the presence of international players in the dressing rooms.
However, the single-tier structure of the ISL means that it will have to grow organically, laying greater store by the financial muscle of competing teams. “Mohun Bagan and East Bengal are mulling offers to join the ISL. Ideally, there should only be one league. The future of smaller teams in the I-League seems uncertain if the traditional powerhouses decide to opt out,” Bheke said.
