After a landslide victory in the recently-concluded Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will, today, be sworn-in for a second consecutive term.

Modi and his new council of ministers will take oath in a glittering ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan forecourt that will see not just Opposition and world leaders, but also corporate honchos, film and sports stars among the 8000 attendees.

This is only the fourth ceremony to be held at the forecourt instead of the Durbar Hall that can accommodate a gathering of about 500 people. In 1990, Chandra Shekhar was the first prime minister to be administered the oath in the forecourt, followed by Atal Bihar Vajpayee in 1998. Modi's first swearing-in ceremony, in May 2014, that had over 4000 guests, was also held at the forecourt.
