What’s this Bond with famous James?
Maybe those who take on his moniker believe they have a licence to thrill.

This April, a couple in Raipur named their newborn twins Covid and Corona — a deed that will probably not be appreciated by the babies once they grow up, although by then they may have morphed into Govind and Karuna.
It is one thing for parents to give unusual names to their offspring, but it is a different breed of people who change their own mundane names to something with instant recall.
The British comedian Joe Lycett officially changed his name to Hugo Boss by deed poll in March 2020, apparently to protest against the brand’s purported moves to dissuade other businesses from using the word ‘Boss’, but returned to his original name a month later.
The intention of the young man from Delhi who has become James Bond this month, is less apparent. At least he stuck to acquiring only 007’s name — in 2006, a council worker in the UK not only became James Bond but included all Bond film titles as his middle names, making it 69 words long.
Admittedly, the new Delhi Bond’s original name would neither ring too many bells nor set many hearts aflutter, but changing it to a super spy’s moniker could also earn him the title of a Fleming Fanatic.
However, the fact that he now faces the daunting task of changing his various identity cards to James Bond may make him do a Joe Lycett and go back to Kardam, Vikas Kardam.
