What to watch on Netflix this weekend: Irumudi and Lust Stories 3, new movies and shows to stream on OTT
Netflix has several new movies and shows lined up this weekend. Best of the Best follows two friends whose bond is tested during a dance competition, while Lust Stories 3 explores modern relationships through four different stories. Period romance The Scandal and military drama Minerva Academy are also part of the lineup. There are also new stories about a missing daughter and the challenges of an arranged marriage.

Best of the Best – Netflix
Best of the Best is a coming-of-age comedy centred on Maya and Anjali, played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Priyanka Kedia. The two are childhood best friends who join UCLA's competitive Bollywood-fusion dance team. As the team prepares for the U.S. National Championship, their friendship begins to face pressure.
The two friends have to deal with intense competition, personal disagreements and the expectations that come with performing on a big stage. The story explores how ambition can affect even a close friendship. Best of the Best is available to stream on Netflix.
Lust Stories 3 – Netflix
Netflix's Emmy-nominated anthology Lust Stories returns with its third instalment, Lust Stories 3. The film brings together four independent stories that explore love, intimacy and the complications of modern relationships.
The anthology has been directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, Shakun Batra, Vishal Bhardwaj and Kiran Rao. Its ensemble cast includes Konkona Sen Sharma, Radhika Apte, Aditi Rao Hydari, Siddharth, Radhika Madan, Ali Fazal, Vijay Varma, Abhishek Banerjee, Gurfateh Pirzada and Sana Thampi. Lust Stories 3 releases on Netflix on September 18, 2026.
The Scandal – Netflix
If period dramas are more your thing, The Scandal takes viewers back to the Joseon Dynasty. The series follows Lady Cho, played by Son Ye-jin, and Cho Won, played by Ji Chang-wook. The two find themselves involved in a calculated game of seduction that does not go exactly as planned.
Nana plays Ahn Hui-yeon, the woman whose involvement makes the situation increasingly complicated. Inspired by the French novel Les Liaisons dangereuses, the series combines romance, secrets and manipulation against a historical backdrop. The Scandal releases on Netflix on September 18, 2026.
Minerva Academy – Netflix
Minerva Academy takes viewers into a very different world. Set at a tightly controlled military academy in Naples, the series follows cadets Salvo, Vincenzo and Camilla, played by Ciro Minopoli, Biagio Venditti and Margherita Buoncristiani.
The students are expected to follow strict rules while also dealing with relationships, family expectations and secrets. With romance and mobile phones forbidden inside the academy, even small acts of rebellion can create serious trouble. Minerva Academy releases on Netflix on September 18, 2026.
Irumudi – Netflix
Ravi Teja's Irumudi brings a father-daughter story with a mystery at its centre. Ravi Teja plays Trinadh, whose daughter suddenly goes missing. Before disappearing, she leaves behind an audio message that could provide a clue about where she is.
Trinadh begins following the information in the recording as he tries to piece together what happened to his daughter. The film has been directed by Shiva Nirvana and stars Ravi Teja in the lead role. Irumudi is available to stream on Netflix.
Modha Rathri – Netflix
Modha Rathri explores the complications that can arise when two people enter a marriage with very different expectations. Rishikanth and Anishma Anilkumar play Maruthu and Muthuselvi, a couple brought together through an arranged marriage.
As they begin their married life, their contrasting personalities and circumstances lead to several complications. The cast also includes Shelly Kishore, Chetan and Bagavathi Perumal. Raja Karuppasamy has directed the film, which is streaming on Netflix.
With everything from dance competitions and relationship drama to missing-person mysteries and historical romance, Netflix's weekend lineup has plenty of variety. Whether you want something light or prefer a story packed with secrets and conflict, these new releases give you several options to pick from.
