After a string of action-packed films, Suriya is all set to take over the big screen this year with a Tamil romantic family drama, Vishwanath and Sons. Written and directed by Venky Atluri, the film’s teaser was released on Monday (March 16) and has already created a buzz online. The movie also stars Mamitha Baiju as the female lead, marking a fresh on-screen pairing that has piqued audience curiosity. Now, we have an update about the movie's streaming rights.

Vishwanath and Sons teaser out

As the teaser caption says, "Every love story doesn’t start at the beginning," the clip offers a glimpse into a heartfelt narrative. Suriya plays Sanjay Vishwanath, an ageing Olympian shooter who is dealing with the challenges of a fading career.

His life takes a surprising turn when he meets Maddy, played by Mamitha Baiju, a free-spirited young woman who brings a new perspective into his world. Despite a huge age gap, the film explores their emotional connection and evolving relationship. Fans have especially expressed excitement about this unconventional pairing and the emotional depth hinted at in the teaser.

Streaming details of Vishwanath and Sons

Meanwhile, streaming giant Netflix has secured the digital rights for Vishwanath and Sons. After its theatrical run, the film will be available on the platform in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. This ensures that the film reaches a wide audience across the country and beyond. The makers will confirm the digital release date after seeing the performance at box office.

The film also boasts a strong supporting cast, including Radhika Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon in key roles. Notably, Raveena Tandon’s presence has generated buzz as she returns to Tamil cinema after nearly 25 years, her last appearance being in Aalavandhan (2001). The film also features actors like Bhavani Sre, Sunil Reddy, and Karate Karthi, adding more depth to the ensemble.

Interestingly, director Venky Atluri has hinted that Suriya’s character in the film shares similarities with his role in Ghajini (2005), where he played Sanjay Ramaswamy. This connection has sparked curiosity among fans, who are eager to see how the character is shaped in a completely different narrative setting.

On the technical front, the film brings together a talented team. Music composer GV Prakash Kumar reunites with Venky Atluri after their previous collaborations, and also works with Suriya again after Soorarai Pottru. Cinematographer Nimish Ravi and editor Navin Nooli are also part of the project.

With production already completed, the makers are eyeing a theatrical release in July 2026. While an official date is yet to be confirmed, fans are eagerly looking forward to it.
