Virat Kohli is the ultimate King! PM Modi, SRK heap praise after T20 thriller; Anushka Sharma shares emotional note

India’s victory over Pakistan in Sunday’s thriller has won the hearts of all. It was indeed the perfect Diwali gift for India. Virat Kohli’s spectacular knock of an unbeaten 82 off 53 balls in the T20 World Cup match in Melbourne had fans go wild.

Kohli's stellar performance has won applause from all quarters. Politicians, celebrities and leaders from across the country heaped lavish praise on the cricketer, with many calling him the ultimate king.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his Twitter account to congratulate team India. He said that it was a well-fought victory and also commended Kohli for his ‘remarkable tenacity’. The PM ended his tweet by wishing good luck for the games ahead.


"The India team bags a well-fought victory! Congratulations for an outstanding performance today. A special mention to Virat Kohli for a spectacular innings in which he demonstrated remarkable tenacity. Best wishes for the games ahead," Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah in his tweet said that the victory heralded the beginning of Diwali. Shah also hailed Kohli’s performance. "A perfect way to start the T20 World Cup. Deepawali begins. What a cracking innings by @imVKohli. Congratulations to the entire team," read Shah’s tweet.
On the other hand, Congress President Rahul Gandhi called the thriller match one of the greatest victories under pressure. “What a thriller of a match against Pakistan! One of the greatest victories under pressure. Well done, #TeamIndia Best of luck for the matches ahead,” he tweeted.
Bollywood Pours Love
After the historic victory, several Bollywood stars took to their social media to congratulate the team and commend Kohli’s masterstroke.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan took to his Twitter account to express his joy over the victory. He said that it was indeed good to see a great game of cricket and that it was a wonderful feeling to see India win. King Khan said that it was inspiring to see Kohli cry and smile, especially with the ‘Chak de India’ song playing in the background. He said that Happy Diwali starts right now.

Film-maker Farhan Akhtar posted a picture of Virat Kohli on his Instagram account with the caption “What a boss, you absolute beauty’.

Meanwhile, actress Anushka Sharma posted an emotional note dedicated to her husband on her Instagram account. "You beauty!! You freaking beauty!! You have brought sooooo much joy in people's lives tonight and that too on the eve of Diwali!” Sharma began her post.

The actress said that she was proud of Kohli and that his strength is contagious and that he is limitless.

Meanwhile, reacting to the astounding victory, Kohli said that the innings from Sunday’s match were his finest in the format, even beyond the Mohali knock against Australia in 2016. “Till today Mohali was my best innings against Australia. Today I will count this one higher. Hardik kept pushing me. The crowd has been phenomenal. You guys (fans) kept backing me and I am grateful for your support," Kohli said.
