MUMBAI: Yesteryear actor Moushumi Chatterjee on Thursday approached the Bombay High Court seeking access to her comatose daughter and a direction to her son-in-law to let her attend to her "comatose" daughter.

The actress and her husband, Jayanta Mukherjee, approached the HC against their son-in-law, Dicky Sinha, with a plea for urgent directions to be allowed to see and attend to their "comatose" daughter, Payal. They contended that they were not being allowed to see their 44-year-old daughter, despite her medical condition and sought orders to get her "physical custody to enable them to take care of her''.

The petition said that Payal had been in a state of coma since April 2017. Earlier in April this year, she was discharged from hospital and has since been under the care of her husband in their Mumbai residence at Khar. The actress, in her plea, said that she and other family members were not allowed to meet Payal ever since her discharge from the hospital. The couple had got married in 2010.

Senior counsel Beni Chatterjee, appearing for the actor, mentioned the petition before a division bench of Justices B P Dharmadhikari and S V Kotwal. The bench posted it for hearing on Saturday, and has also directed Sinha to file his affidavit in response to the petition.
