Funding a new venture always comes with risks. Any investor worth his or her name will have a list of hits and misses they’ve had, and the unicorns they regret dismissing early on.

With the recent news of Uber investors reaping multi-fold returns on their investment, Rehan Yar Khan, managing partner, Orios Venture Partners, recalled the trajectory of the taxi hailing app’s Indian rival Ola and the value it seems to have given its investors.

“Uber angel investors making 3600 times the return reminded me of the time I approached angels to co-invest with me in Ola. Most were like ‘I can wave my hand and get a cab’. So I ended up writing 70 per cent of the round,” Khan wrote in a social media post.
