Director Savin SA’s Vaazha 2: Biopic of a Billion Bros continues its impressive run at the box office, showing no signs of slowing down. The coming-of-age comedy, written by Vipin Das, hit theatres on April 2 and has quickly climbed the charts to become the sixth highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. With strong word of mouth and consistent collections, the film has emerged as one of the biggest hits in recent times, drawing audiences across regions. Now, we have some updates about Vaazha 2's digital release after its theatrical run.

Streaming details of Vaazha 2

According to a report by 123Telugu, Vaazha 2 is expected to follow the common industry trend of arriving on OTT platforms within four to six weeks of its cinema debut. This means the film could premiere online sometime in May. Streaming platform Jio Hotstar, which already hosts the first instalment, is likely to acquire the digital rights for the sequel as well. However, an official announcement from the makers is still awaited.




At the box office, Vaazha 2 has delivered remarkable numbers in a short span of time. As per reports, the film has grossed around Rs 163.50 crore worldwide within just 10 days of its release. Out of this, approximately Rs 89.75 crore has come from the Indian market, while overseas collections stand at Rs 73.75 crore. The film’s India net collection is said to be around Rs 77.50 crore.

The comedy film continues to perform well in its second week, crossing major milestones quickly. On Day 12 (second Monday), it earned Rs 5.05 crore net from 1,902 shows with 51% occupancy. On Day 13 (second Tuesday), it collected Rs 4.95 crore from 1,979 shows with 48% occupancy.

With these figures, the film has managed to surpass The Goat Life, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, which had a lifetime gross of about Rs 158.50 crore. This achievement has placed Vaazha 2 firmly among the biggest Malayalam blockbusters, further strengthening its position in the industry.

The film’s success can also be attributed to its engaging storyline and ensemble cast. Featuring a mix of fresh and familiar faces, the movie includes actors like Hashir, Alan, Vinayak, Ajin, Biju Kuttan, Alphonse Puthren, Vijay Babu, Aju Varghese, Ameen, and Angel Maria. Their performances have resonated well with audiences, adding to the film’s popularity.

Is Vaazha 3 happening?

Meanwhile, excitement around the franchise continues to grow. After the success of Vaazha and Vaazha 2, the makers have confirmed Vaazha 3: Biopic of a Billion Girls, which will focus on a female-led story. While the franchise changes directors for each part, Vipin Das remains the writer. Viswan Sreejith, who assisted earlier, will direct the new film, with production likely to begin next year.
