Fake death news is not a new phenomenon. Many celebrities have woken up to the news of their own death doing the rounds on social media! The latest celeb to become a victim of the death hoax bandwagon is none other than singer Udit Narayan.

Narayan, who completed 42 years in Bollywood, trended on social media for the wrong reasons when news of him suffering a cardiac arrest went viral. Some media outlets also reported that the veteran singer was hospitalised after a massive heart attack. However, the singer’s manager called out the fake news and revealed that Narayan was hale and hearty.

Narayan’s manager reacted to the news and confirmed that the singer was healthy and did not suffer any heart attack. He also revealed that the singer was extremely upset at the news. “I don't know where all of a sudden these news are coming from. Phone calls are coming continuously. I had a conversation with Udit ji last night after seeing the messages trending on Twitter. He was very upset (sic)," the manager was quoted as saying to a news daily. The manager also revealed that the source of the rumours can be traced to Nepal, as the number from which the message was circulated has the code number of the neighbouring country.

According to reports, the singer is currently contemplating ‘stringent action’ against the fake news source.

Narayan has been active in Bollywood since the ‘80s. He lent his mellifluous voice to evergreen hit songs like ‘Main Yahaan Hoon’ (Veer Zaara), ‘Bin Tere Sanam’ (Yaara Dildara), and many others

Many celebrities from Amitabh Bachchan to Paresh Rawal have fallen prey to the death hoax. News of Rawal succumbing to Covid-19 broke the Internet in May 2021. The veteran actor however chose to respond to the news with his trademark humour. He took to Twitter and wrote, "Sorry for the misunderstanding as I slept past 7 am (sic)...!"
