One of India's best poets and lyricists, Gulzar is well-known for his outstanding contributions to Hindi cinema. Throughout his seven-decade career, the iconic lyricist has received several honors, including an Academy Award, a Grammy, and about five National Film Awards. In 2013, the government of India awarded him the Padma Bhushan in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the business. Today marks the 88th birthday of the evergreen personality.

1. Tujhse Naraz Nahi Zindagi
n this popular melody from Masoom, lyricist Gulzar emphasizes how one should face all life's curveballs with a bright grin. Lata Mangeskar sings the female version of the song, while Anup Ghoshal sings the male version. Tujhse Naraz Nahi Zindagi is a film composed by RD Burman and starring Naseeruddin Shah, Urmila Matondkar, and Shabana Azmi.

Jai Ho is a fast rhythmic song from the popular film Slumdog Millionaire. 3. Thoda hai thode ke jaroorat hai
In this bittersweet song that honours life, Gulzar raised the paradox that man would always seek more no matter what. Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar sang the song, which was starring Ashok Kumar, Pearl Padamsee, Rakesh Roshan, David Abraham Cheulkar, Ranjit Chowdhry. This well-known song is from the film Khatta Meetha (1981).

4. Tere Bina Zindagi Se Koi
Tere Bina Zindagi Se Koi, written by Gulzar, is on the soundtrack of the 1975 film Aandhi, starring Sanjeev Kumar, Suchitra Sen, and Om Shivpuri. The beautiful ballad was created by RD Burman and featured vocals by the legendary pair Lata Mangeskar and Kishore Kumar. The song's lyrics convey the spirit of unrequited love.
