The goal that Patrizio Stella prizes above all is “always being satisfied with myself.”
Chopard Parfums CEO Patrizio Stella believes starting each morning with a new goal is the best way to fill your days with purpose.

Patrizio Stella, CEO, Chopard Parfums believes in waking up each morning with a new goal in mind. “This way I can constantly prove myself and make sure my days are always rich with purpose,” Stella told ET Panache.

In the past, his goals have ranged from visiting new countries, playing tennis in a proper manner, learning how to drive better at sea, being curious about his kids’ tastes and understanding why they love what they love to developing a team and an organisation that will strive for reaching its targets “with style,” and making Chopard Parfums a worldwide success.

But the goal he prizes above all is “always being satisfied with myself.”

Making resolutions are still important
Although he sets a new goal every morning, Stella is not against making New Year’s resolutions and in fact, takes time out every Christmas to set up his resolutions for the upcoming year.

“It is the best moment for evaluating the previous year and planning for a new year. I set them (resolutions) up around Christmas time and check them out at the end of the following year. (It’s a good way to) make sure you can always reinvent yourself.”

Asked about his own New Year’s resolutions for 2020, Stella cheekily replied, “It is like your dreams when you see a falling star. If you tell them, they’ll never come true.”

“We have a lot of family visiting us this year. So, we’ll bring in the New Year at home. Also, our newest family member — five-month-old Yoda, our dog — is really young. We didn’t want to plan anything elaborate as he is still getting used to the house and getting trained. Post New Year’s though, we may head out to Alibaug for a couple of days.”

“I’m not very sure where I will be; I could be in New York, I could be in India. I don’t really plan New Year’s because most of the time I end up working. It’s peak season for us. If I could, I’d be happiest sitting at home and watching TV. So, I probably would have an early dinner and then just settle in with a television series, some popcorn and a soft drink.”

“For me, the holidays is time to spend with friends and family. Starting a new year in the company of those I love is what matters most to me and the destination is usually secondary. This year, I am going to London to bring in the New Year. I plan on enjoying the city and stealing moments to unwind and catch up with family and friends.”

“It’s up in the air. It could be Goa or somewhere in London. We did London last year and many, many years of Goa. On some odd years, we were stuck in Mumbai, which is also fun because you can throw an impromptu party but the traffic will be insane. For New Year’s, I love to have lots of people around. There are enough times in the year when you can just be quiet and alone but for New Year’s you want to be surrounded by lots of people and have a blast.”

“I will be in Manhattan this time with our two-year-old. I love the energy of the place. Times Square is a place I visit often. This has been on my wish list for some time, but my wife and I were just waiting for the baby to be old enough to get some sense of it.”
