Thugs will rule: Anurag Kashyap quits Twitter over threats to family
In his last tweets, the film-maker said he was exiting the platform as he couldn't speak without fear.

The 'Manmarziyaan' director posted two tweets, on Saturday evening, explaining his move, "When your parents start to get calls and your daughter gets online threats you know that no one wants to talk. There isn't going to be reason or rationale."
Taking a jibe at the trolls and the idea of 'new India', he went on to add, "Thugs will rule and thuggery will be the new way of life. Congratulations everyone on this new India and hope you all thrive."

In a second post, Kashyap said that his decision to quit Twitter was due to the fact that he won't be allowed to speak his mind without fear.
"Wish you all the happiness and success. This would be my last tweet as I leave Twitter. When I won't be allowed to speak my mind without fear then I would rather not speak at all. Goodbye," he wrote.

The director has earlier also tweeted about his daughter receiving threats and had then also tagged the Mumbai Police on the platform, in response to which the police had asked him to lodge a formal complaint. Kashyap had reportedly also filed an FIR following that.
Since his exit, the hashtag #AnuragKashyap has become among the top trends on Twitter.
While some users stood in support of Kashyap, another section slammed his move.
"Today it's him. Tomorrow it will be us," wrote one user.
