After BJP's victory in the 16th LS elections, Kashyap had taken to Twitter to congratulate PM Modi while also sharing a screenshot of a troll who threatened to rape his daughter.
Film-maker Anurag Kashyap has filed an FIR against a social media troll who threatened to rape his daughter Aaliya, after PM Modi's historic win.

The 'Manmarziyan' director, who has lodged a complaint at the Amboli police station, thanked Mumbai Police on Twitter, "Anyways I want to thank @MumbaiPolice @MahaCyber1 @Brijeshbsingh for helping me with filing the FIR. Thank you so much for the amazing support and starting the process.Thank you @Dev_Fadnavis and thank you @narendramodi Sir. As a father I am more secure now."

This tweet was however preceded by him saying, "The irony with social media is when I say vote for your constituent so one can take there problems to them, they say Vote for the PM. When you tag PM to the the tweet they say it’s not his responsibility go to the constituent."

On May 23, soon after BJP's victory in the 16th Lok Sabha elections, Kashyap had taken to Twitter to congratulate PM Modi while also sharing a screenshot of a troll - with 'chowkidar' added to his username - who threatened to rape his daughter.

The director wrote, "Dear @narendramodi sir. Congratulations on your victory and thank you for the message of inclusiveness. Sir please also tell us how do we deal with these followers of yours who celebrate your victory by threatening my daughter with messages like this for me being your dissenter."

This tweet had led to actress Suchitra Krishnamoorthi calling out Kashyap for tagging the Prime Minister in his post. She wrote, "Dear @anuragkashyap72 I have been openly pro #Modi & yet have often rcvd rape threats for my daughter & even myself when controversy has erupted. I have done what a right thinking citizen must do ie complained to #MumbaiPolice & #cybercrime cell. NOT tag #PM!!! Whats ur point?"

She went on to add, "& @anuragkashyap72 u are experienced enuff to shut the hatemongers on ur own without creating more hate. ?? & @MumbaiPolice is super helpful in this regard. Try them - i have."

The film-maker had replied to her saying, "Point is - one statement from him that he does not endorse hatemongers will shut them up." Krishnamoorthi, on Monday, applauded Kashyap for taking the matter to the Mumbai Police.
