"What happened this year? What happened? People went mad, you know .... Jada got mad, you know. She said she is not coming. Protesting ... ! I am like ... 'is she on a TV show? Jada's gonna boycott this Oscars?!' Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties. I wasn’t invited," Rock joked as the room roared with laughter.

He then went on to add: "It’s not fair that Will was this good and didn’t get nominated. It’s also not fair that Will was paid $20 million for 'Wild Wild West'!"

After the ceremony, a lot of fans dissed Rock for his dig at the Smiths. While one user specifically asked Smith to punch Rock in the face, adding that the actor has no other choice.

Back to 2022, during the 94th Academy Awards ceremony, Rock yet again aimed his gun at Jada, this time making fun of her alopecia disorder, a health condition that causes baldness.

Here's What Had Happened:
While announcing the nominees, Rock compared Jada's tightly cropped hair to actress Demi Moore's appearance in the film 'G.I. Jane', adding that she may appear in the film's sequel.

To which, Smith walked on stage and struck Rock. "Keep my wife's name out of your f****** mouth," yelled Smith as he returned to his seat.

Though the show went on and Smith later apologised to the Academy and Rock for losing his calm and striking the comedian, many can't help but link the 2016 tweet with the 2022 incident.

Several people said that 2016 incident at the Academy ceremony could have been the beginning of a bad history between the three, which led to Smith vs Rock encounter, on the Oscars platform itself. Ending it where it started, eh?

However, it sure is a freaky coincidence how the events really unfolded. Guess what they say about being "careful what you wish for", is kind of true.
