Sanil Sacher, co-founder of start-up incubator Huddle, says he finds spending time in his room to be therapeutic. Healing zone “When I am in my space, it should relax and heal me, take away any stress and negativity, leave me feeling calmer and comforted. I should not leave my room angry.”
Room with a view
“I wanted my space to be an extension of me. My room must be fluid, with no large, bulky pieces of furniture. I didn’t want clutter, so there’s no memorabilia strewn across, nor do the walls have artefacts or artworks. I like heights, so I live on the 25th floor of a condominium in Gurugram. It gives me a helicopter-like view. I am an adrenalin junkie, I like the outdoors and am out of my room 20 minutes after I wake up at 6 am to play some sport. I leave my bed as soon as I am awake. My room is essentially all white, minimalistic in terms of decor. But it is not a silent white, it has a few spots of colour.”
Supply chain efficiency “I like everything in a specific pattern. Methodically placed as in a supply chain. It improves my efficiency on a day-to-day basis. I have a football, a tennis ball and a Rubik’s Cube in my room, all of which help me think better.”
Mukesh Ambani's Rs 15 Cr Salary Isn't As Interesting: These Top Bosses Earn More Than Him
When your net worth is approximately $50 billion, a no pay hike isn’t a major cause for concern. In fact, at that level, an annual salary figure of Rs 15 crore itself could feel like pocket change — even though this compensation includes salary and allowances, perquisites, retiral benefits and commission.
“Compensation of Shri Mukesh D. Ambani, chairman and managing director, has been set at Rs 15 crore, reflecting his desire to continue to set a personal example for moderation in managerial compensation levels,” says RIL’s annual report for 2018-19.
Reliance promoters also received a dividend of Rs 1,778 crore (approx).
Here are some top ranking C-suite members (within the non-promoter group), and are still higher on the salary front in FY19.

Picture perfect “There are only three places to sit: My bed, an orange lazy chair that adds a burst of colour, and an office table and chair in a dark wood hue. Besides the furniture, I have a picture of my five closest friends. There is also a picture of my boarding school room from England and my personal library which I constantly browse through. Beside my bed is a French Press to make myself a cold brew. I also have two note-pads with provocative covers which were gifted to me. I am particular about notepads because I am always writing something.”
No room for these “The one thing you will never see in my room is a gaming console. I am possessive about the time I spend outdoors. But I do have a TV to watch sports. I’ve wanted a mini fridge in my room for as long as I can remember, but I fear that if I get one, I will get too comfortable and just won’t leave my room. I don’t want spend all my time in my room, but I’m particular that when I am inside, the time has to be the most rejuvenating. It should replenish my energy levels and I should be raring to go once I am refreshed.” Welcome guests “The only other person I would invite into my room is the author, Mitch Albom, who wrote 'Tuesdays with Morrie'. He is my favourite writer.”

My therapy place “Because I think of my room as a place of personal therapy, it’s a private space. My bathroom is a big translucent glass cubicle, that’s another reason I can’t have people walking in and out of my room. I don’t like having people hanging around having conversations in my room. If I want to spend time talking with friends and family, I would rather do so in the lawn or in the kitchen. The only person allowed in my room is my girlfriend. And my sister Shreya, but she is a busy chef who lives in Hyderabad. I live with my parents, Sita and Sanjeev Sacher, who are avid travellers, so it’s not often that we are all together at home.”
