Microsoft top boss Satya Nadella is gung-ho on India, and its tech prowess. The Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft on Thursday lauded the Narendra Modi government for its "deep focus on sustainable and inclusive economic growth led by digital transformation."

In a LinkedIn post, the tech titan thanked Prime Minister Modi for "an insightful meeting", and said that Microsoft was ready to ally with India in making its Digital India mission a success.

Nadella, while posting a picture with the PM, wrote that the tech superbrand would help India "be a light for the world."

Earlier on Wednesday, Nadella also caught up with the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The two discussed several issues including governance and security in the digital domain.

On Tuesday, Nadella stressed the importance of cloud-based services, which are energy efficient in nature. He said the adoption of such technologies is rising and proving to be a “game changer”. “Cloud-native applications have yet not begun…by 2025 you are going to have most of the application anybody builds really at that efficient frontier of cloud net,” Nadella said.

Nadella's four-day official India visit kicked off from Mumbai on Tuesday with a Microsoft industry summit. This is his first trip to the country since February 2020, and comes just weeks after Alphabet Inc's top boss Sundar Pichai visited India. Pichai, too, had called on the Prime Minister and met a host of other ministers and stakeholders.

Earlier last year, Nadella was conferred with the Padma Bhushan for distinguished services to the nation. The Hyderabad-born, as well as Pichai and Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran, were among the 17 people who received one of India’s highest civilian awards last year. He received the honour formally in San Francisco from India’s Consul General Dr TV Nagendra Prasad.

The 55-year-old executive has been widely credited with transforming the iconic software maker into a $198 billion technology powerhouse with a focus on mobile and Cloud. Microsoft has operated in India for more than 32 years now.
