Known for being the undisputed king of box-office and playing larger-than-life characters, south superstar Rajinikanth is a cult figure in his own right. Often called 'Thalaiva' by his loyal fans, the renowned actor turned 70 years old on Saturday. Several industry bigwigs and stalwarts took to social media to wish the superstar on his big day.

Twitterati and other celebs used a common display picture, which was essentially a poster showing Rajinikanth's five different characters in animated form. Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman took to Twitter and shared the poster, captioning it, "Extremely privileged to release superstar @Rajinikanth’s 70th Birthday CDP on behalf of his fans. Wishing you a great birthday and good health! #HBDSuperstarRajinikanth."



Prime Minister Narendra Modi, too, took to Twitter and prayed for Rajinikanth's long and healthy life.

Actor Suniel Shetty called Rajinikanth the 'biggest inspiration' for many.

Actor Dulquer Salmaan and actress Aditi Rao Hydari also shared the Common Display Picture (CDP) and wished the south superstar on his special day.

Rajinikanth is now all set to venture into politics and said he would float his political party in January 2021 and an announcement in that regard will be made on December 31, 2020. Speaking about the same, Rajinikanth said: "The time has come to change the fate of Tamil Nadu. Political and government change in the state is important. It will surely change. The political change is important and is compulsion of time. If not now, it is not possible ever. Everything has to be changed. We will change everything."
