Why has Telangana Labour Department sent notice to Irumudi makers
For the unversed, the controversy began after a complaint was filed by C Mahesh Babu, founder-president of Jai Lok Satta (Social Justice Forum), who raised concerns about the minor's involvement in the film's production and promotional events. The report further states that the producers can also send an authorised representative to attend the inquiry on their behalf. The Labour Department wants to know whether they obtained permission from the District Magistrate and parental consent before involving the girl in the film's shoot.
The department has also asked the makers to provide details of her working hours, attendance records, educational arrangements and safety measures followed during filming. It will examine whether the necessary steps were taken to protect the minor while she was working on the project.
Another issue being examined is her remuneration. The department has sought clarification on whether 20 per cent of the payment made to the girl was deposited into a fixed deposit account in her name, as required under the relevant rules.
The inquiry will also look into her participation in promotional events and whether the conversations and language used during these appearances had any implications for her dignity and safety. Mythri Movie Makers have been asked to submit all relevant documents and explanations. The department will review their response before deciding on further action.
