Pro tips from local mechanics can help keep your swanky wheels in good shape, says Faisal Husain, CEO, Synechron Inc.

How I fell in love with cars
“My introduction to cars was not any different from other boys. I loved the cars that my family owned and took a shine to all the fancy cars I would see on the road. My bond with a car is not based on its price. I could be a big fan of an expensive car, as well as an inexpensive one. The history and personality of the car matter a lot to me.”

My first car
“It was a red Toyota Supra Twin Turbo that I bought almost two decades ago. It is still recognised as a modern classic and has featured in many Hollywood movies, like those in 'The Fast and the Furious' franchise. It was an absolute dream to drive. My wife went on a few long drives in it, including New York-Chicago and New York-Montreal. I owned the car for six years. I have developed a passion for 4x4s and own a Land Rover Defender and a Jeep Wrangler.”

My best road trip
ADVERTISEMENT
“My favourite country to drive in is India. I’ve done a few road trips, including touring Rajasthan and Kerala. Outside India, I would love to tour Africa (Nairobi to Cape Town) and China/Mongolia as well. I prefer drives that bring you closer to nature. I consciously take the route that gives me a glimpse of wildlife, different cultures, and takes me away from the bustle of corporate life. I recommend everyone take at least one road trip every six months by themselves — insert the car key, press ignition, and zoom away.”

Favourite car scene in a movie
The car chase in James Bond’s 'Spectre' in which two Land Rover Defenders are featured is my favourite scene.

Music on the road…
“I prefer the radio. There is a surprise element in not knowing what is coming next. I like modern Bollywood, bhangra, qawwali, hip-hop and disco.”
