Jain considers days on which he hasn’t learnt anything to be time wasted.
Anik Jain, CEO of Symbo Insurance, reveals how he used diet, discipline and a love of running to get his fitness on track.

Body
“A love of running has helped me follow a disciplined fitness regimen. I spend one hour a day either running, walking or weight training. During this time, everything else ceases to exist. I use this time to connect with myself and collect my thoughts, or let it all go and allow my mind to exist in complete thoughtlessness. It’s liberating. “But it wasn’t always like this. I brought myself out of a state of complete disrespect for my body through the right diet and discipline. And I have seen the difference in both my physical as well as mental health. The most important bit here is eating healthy.”

Soul

“I believe that living in the moment is the best thing one can do for one’s soul. When I am with my daughter, nothing else matters. Similarly, when I am at work, everything else takes a back seat. It’s about prioritising the present and getting through life with a no-regrets philosophy.

“I don’t believe in blindly following religion, sects or rituals. If religion is being aware of, and respecting the values that are taught across faiths, I am inherently religious. I choose to follow what I can comprehend and defend using my own ideology. I am also open to opinions and ideas that are in contrast to my own.”

Mind
“I consider days on which I haven’t learnt anything to be time wasted. Human behaviour is a window into the world of business, and every interaction is an opportunity to learn. “I try and make time to read up on topics like psychology, politics, and religion.

“I learn the most from reading bedtime stories to my daughter. These provide honest self-assessments on my ability to implement the values taught in these stories — as a father, husband, and CEO.

“Intelligent comedies are another way for me to keep my mind working while having fun. George Carlin, Bill Maher, Ricky Gervais are intelligent comedians, and they inevitably help me wind down and relax.”
