Sushant death: NCB conducts searches at Rhea Chakraborty's house; Showik, Samuel Miranda detained

On Friday morning, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided Sushant Singh Rajput's live-in partner, Rhea Chakraborty’s house.

In a fresh development, Rhea's brother Showik, has been detained by the agency and has been taken to the NCB office for questioning, Times Now reported. Meanwhile, another team of the NCB, which was conducting a parallel raid at Rajput's close aide, Samuel Miranda’s house, has detained him and taken him to the NCB office.

According to a Times Now report, there were 8 NCB members and cops inside Chakraborty’s residence, looking for evidence that can corroborate the alleged ‘drug link’ based on the WhatsApp chats which were shared by the ED (Enforcement Directorate) with the agency. The laptops and hard drives of Rhea’s brother Showik Chakraborty are likely to be seized by the NCB, Times Now has reported.



The raid comes after the NCB, on Thursday, apprehended Kaizan Ibrahim, who is suspected to be a drug trafficker. The federal anti-narcotics agency apprehended Ibrahim after the questioning of Abdel Basit Parihar, who was earlier arrested by the agency. The NCB has arrested two people in this probe till now. The other one has been identified as Zaid Vilatra, according to Times Now.

According to the news agency PTI, Parihar is "learnt to have linkages" with the narcotics case registered against the 28-year-old model-turned-actress and others.

Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is also probing the ‘Kedarnath’ actor’s death, on Thursday night, released a statement clarifying that the media reports attributed to the CBI are merely speculative and not based on facts.

Earlier this week, a news portal had reported that the CBI has not found any evidence that Rajput was murdered and that the agency is not looking at the suicide angle of the case. Rubbishing such reports, the central intelligence agency clarified that ‘CBI doesn't share details of ongoing probe’

Further, the central intelligence agency clarified that the details being reported and attributed to the CBI are ‘not credible’. Here is the full text of the CBI statement.


"The CBI is conducting investigation related to death of Sh. Sushant Singh Rajput in a systematic and professional way. Certain media reports attributed to CBI investigation are speculative and not based on facts. It is reiterated that as a matter of Policy, CBI does not share details of ongoing investigation. CBI spokesperson or any team member has not shared any details of investigation with media. The details being reported and attributed to CBI are not credible. It is requested that media may please confirm details from CBI Spokesperson before quoting CBI (sic)."

Besides the CBI and the NCB, the ED is also probing Rajput’s girlfriend, Chakraborty, over ‘suspicious transactions’ conducted from the late actor’s bank accounts. The ED had sprung into action after an FIR by Rajput’s father KK Singh in Patna, where he accused Chakraborty of siphoning off money from his son’s account.
