Suriya’s Retro, which released today, saw a record-breaking advance booking phase that kicked off on April 27 at 4 PM. The overwhelming demand temporarily crashed servers, delaying access, but once restored, bookings skyrocketed. Within 24 hours, the film grossed Rs 5 crore in Tamil Nadu alone and sold 82,000 tickets, surpassing Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly tally of 57,000. Promotional activities across the country added to the buzz, and with May 1 being a public holiday, shows filled up rapidly. These numbers reflect Retro's massive fan pull and strong opening at the box office.
