South Indian cinema’s popular actor Keerthy Suresh is widely appreciated not only for her powerful performances but also for her glowing appearance and lean physique. In 2024, the National Award-winning actor spoke to Behindwoods TV and shared insights into how she maintains her health and appearance. Keerthy made it clear that her fitness journey has never been about extreme routines or trend-driven practices. According to her, discipline and balance have played a far greater role than rigid plans.

A Non-Conventional Fitness Journey

During the interaction, Keerthy Suresh revealed that structured gym workouts were never a part of her life.

"I never had any workout in my entire life,” she said.

She explained that excessive cardio once caused her to lose muscle mass, making her frame extremely slim. Realising the need for balance, she gradually shifted her approach. The actor said that during the COVID-19 lockdown, she began practicing yoga, which helped her reconnect with her body. Over time, she added strength-based exercises, animal-flow movements, headstands, handstands, aerobics and flexibility training to her routine. As per Keerthy, she works out consistently four to five times a week to stay active and energised.

A Balanced and Sustainable Eating Style

When it comes to nutrition, Keerthy Suresh shared with Behindwoods TV that she consciously avoids crash diets and popular trends like keto. Instead, she follows a protein-focused and low-carbohydrate eating pattern. She keeps a distance from processed food, sugary beverages, junk snacks and meals heavy in fats and refined carbs. Her approach revolves around nourishing the body rather than restricting it.

Morning Rituals and Everyday Meals

Keerthy begins her mornings with a nutrient-rich green juice consumed on an empty stomach. The drink includes spinach, celery, cucumber, mint, lemon juice, garlic and ginger. She credited this antioxidant-packed beverage for boosting her stamina and helping her stay fresh through long workdays. For dinner, she prefers simple, home-style Indian food. Her evening meal usually includes phulka rotis paired with mushrooms and paneer, keeping it light yet fulfilling.

Protein as a Priority

The actor emphasised that she enjoys food without guilt while ensuring it meets her nutritional goals. Her daily protein intake includes egg whites, paneer, tofu, pulses, chenna, soybeans and nuts, allowing her to maintain strength without overloading on carbohydrates.

What Is Animal Flow Workout?

Animal Flow workouts are a dynamic training method that centres on seamless, continuous movement inspired by the natural patterns of animals. Each sequence encourages the body to transition smoothly from one position to another, drawing on the elegance of a prowling tiger, the raw force of a bear, the grounded power of a horse, the springy motion of a rabbit and the quick, responsive agility of monkeys. Rather than isolating muscles, this approach teaches the body to move as one connected system.

This form of exercise blends elements of yoga, functional training and bodyweight conditioning, while infusing them with the strength, rhythm and fluid motion seen in animals in the wild. The result is a highly engaging workout style that feels both primal and purposeful. Every movement challenges balance and control, requiring the practitioner to remain present and intentional throughout the flow.

Animal Flow routines place equal emphasis on muscular strength, joint mobility and flexibility. Because the exercises rely on body weight rather than equipment, they activate multiple muscle groups at once, delivering a full-body workout. At the same time, the constant transitions test coordination and spatial awareness, helping improve overall movement efficiency and posture.

Beyond physical benefits, this training method also nurtures mental sharpness. Maintaining smooth transitions demands concentration, breath control and an awareness of how the body moves through space. Over time, practitioners often develop a stronger mind-body connection, learning to listen to physical cues and move with greater confidence and ease.

Ultimately, Animal Flow is more than just a workout; it is a holistic movement practice. By combining strength, flexibility and mindfulness within flowing sequences, it offers a refreshing alternative to rigid exercise routines. The focus is not only on building power, but also on cultivating control, resilience and a deeper understanding of one’s own movement capabilities.
