Sonu Sood is known for his intense performances in films such as Dabangg, Arundhati, Simmba. However, the actor is also hailed for his toned physique. In an interview, the actor revealed he followed a simple, vegetarian diet and was often mocked by friends for having a “hospital diet.”

In a chat with Jist, the 52-year-old actor stated: “I am a vegetarian. My diet is very boring. Whenever someone comes home, they say that I eat hospital food at home. I tell them that this is my plate, you eat whatever you want. Besides me, everyone eats non-vegetarian food, sabke liye acha khaana banta hai. We have the best of cooks.”

He also shared a glimpse to his diet and revealed he has no cheat days and prefers eating healthy most of the time. “I have stopped eating chapatis. In the afternoon, I eat a small bowl of dal and rice. For breakfast, I eat egg-white omelette, salad, avocado, sauteed vegetables or papaya. But yes, I eat healthy, I don’t cheat on my diet. I eat makki ki roti sometimes, but only once in a while. It is important to be consistent,” he explained.

During a conversation with Subhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel, Sonu addressed the widespread misconception that a fit body can only be achieved with artificial performance-enhancing products. He explained that although he has tried protein powder in the past, he does not support relying on dietary supplements or anabolic steroids for building or maintaining fitness.

Discussing his eating habits, Sonu said he prefers uncomplicated, home-style food over elaborate meals. Even when luxury hotels arrange customized dishes for him, he usually chooses light options such as fresh salads and egg whites. According to the actor, he is perfectly content eating a simple combination of dal and rice every day and believes he could happily sustain himself on that meal indefinitely.

He also spoke about his approach to carbohydrates, revealing that makki ki roti is something he enjoys only once in a while as a special treat. Regular wheat chapatis, however, have been completely eliminated from his daily diet as part of his disciplined nutritional routine.
