At a concert, movie theatre, club or live performance, you don’t just hear the sound — you ‘feel’ it too. The vibrations add to the overall experience of being there. That’s exactly what Skullcandy is trying to recreate with the Crusher. It’s not the first of its kind but Skullcandy is the only company that’s doing this kind of thing.

The Crusher Wireless is an over-the-ear style Bluetooth headphone that offers an ‘immersive bass experience’ with powerful haptic feedback. Play some music and you will ‘feel’ the bass when it drops.

Apart from the 40mm acoustic driver, there is an additional 30mm crusher driver. You can adjust the amount of bass it creates with a slider. Turned up all the way, it’s a powerful vibration that literally shakes your head and eyeglasses (if you’re wearing them).

The problem is, the novelty wears off pretty fast and fatigue sets in. We found that we couldn’t keep the vibrations on for more than 30 minutes at a stretch. With the vibration component removed, it sounds decent but you can also do better for the price.

Luckily, they boast of an incredible 35 hour battery life and are very comfortable to wear. The box includes the headphones, a micro USB cable, AUX cable (for wired mode) and a travel bag.

If you feel the price is a tad high, not to worry. Online price currently hovers around Rs 9,500 at the moment. If you’re after higher sound quality at around the same price, we’d recommend Sennheiser’s HD 4.40 BT (Rs 7,500).
