Skullcandy has a wide variety of headphones. The company has now launched its first set of wireless headphones with active noise cancellation (ANC). The Venue is a premium offering and you can tell that by looking at its build quality and finish. Both earcups have memory foam for comfort and there is enough padding on the headband too – great for long hours.
The earcups can be rotated for easier storage and it comes with a great looking carry case too. On the left ear cup is the power button with an LED battery indicator along with a button to activate/deactivate ANC. The right ear cup has the volume button, a multi-purpose button, a 3.5mm jack and microUSB port for charge.
Audio quality is fantastic — the deep bass is great for music lovers and it does not overpower vocals or treble. The maximum volume could have been higher, but combined with the ANC, it always sounds good. As for the ANC, it works well but it’s not the best we have experienced — Sony and Bose do a better job, but they’re also Rs 10,000 or more than the Skullcandy Venue.

There are several features we loved on the Venue. You can pair it with two devices simultaneously. You can use it in wired mode if the battery runs out. The built-in microphones are sensitive and work great for voice calls as well as interacting with your phone’s voice assistant. And there is also a completely unique feature: Bluetooth device tracking with Tile. You need to install the Tile app (iOS and Android), sign up for an account and select Skullcandy Venue from the list. Once done, you can use the app to find the headphones — pressing “find” will make the headphones beep loudly. Keep in mind that you need to do this before pairing the headphones with the phone.
Battery life is stellar. With ANC enabled and volume at 75%, we got 20 hours of battery life from a single charge. It also supports fast charging – a 10 minute charge gives you 5 hours of use. Overall, we think the Venue is a great option for anyone looking at ANC headphones in the sub Rs20,000 segment.
