Sigma box office collection day 1: Jason Sanjay's directorial debut starring Sundeep Kishan opens on a slow note

Jason Sanjay, son of actor and politician Vijay, made his directorial debut with Sigma. After facing several delays, the film finally arrived in theatres on October 2. Starring Sundeep Kishan in the lead role, the Tamil-Telugu film has received mixed responses from audiences and critics. While some viewers praised the actor's performance and the film's mass appeal, others felt the debut could have been stronger. Vijay's wife and daughter also showed their support for Jason and watched the film in theatres.

Sigma box office collection Day 1

According to early estimates by Sacnilk.com, Sigma collected Rs 2.35 crore net in India on Day 1. The film was screened across 1,813 shows on its opening day. The reported India gross collection stands at around Rs 2.70 crore, while the India net collection is Rs 2.35 crore. Overseas collection figures for the film are currently not available.




The opening comes after a long wait for Jason Sanjay's directorial debut. The project had faced delays before finally getting a theatrical release on October 2. The film is expected to rely on audience word of mouth in the coming days.

Tamil, Telugu versions contribute to opening

Sigma was released in both Tamil and Telugu. According to the latest live figures cited by Sacnilk.com, the Tamil version contributed approximately Rs 90 lakh from 656 shows.

The Telugu version recorded around Rs 69 lakh from 625 shows. The remaining collection comes from the film's other reported shows and markets.

The film's reception has been mixed so far. Some viewers have praised Sundeep Kishan for going all out in the action-heavy role, with reactions describing the film as a “mass feast”. At the same time, others have criticised aspects of the film and said Jason Sanjay could have done better with his first directorial venture.

As Sigma reached theatres, Jason received support from his family. Vijay's wife and daughter were among those who watched the film in theatres, marking an important moment for the filmmaker as he began his journey behind the camera.

The debut also received support from several names from the film industry before its release. Actress Jyotika was among those who publicly wished Jason and his team, ahead of the release.

Sharing a picture of Jason along with the Sigma poster on Instagram, Jyotika praised his journey and personality. She wrote, "Dear @jason.sanjay official and team, My heartfelt wishes for SIGMA. What is Sigma movie about?

Sigma follows Guru, a rogue treasure hunter and radio host whose life takes an unexpected turn after a betrayal costs him everything. He then sets his sights on a ₹500-crore racket controlled by Kotlapadi Veeraiya Reddy.

Unable to take on the powerful syndicate directly, Guru comes up with an elaborate heist plan with the help of his friends and associates. However, the mission becomes complicated as betrayals and unexpected twists begin to threaten the plan.

The film combines action, heist elements and comedy while following Guru's attempt to outsmart the people behind the racket.

Sundeep Kishan plays the central character of Guru, while Faria Abdullah stars alongside him. The supporting cast includes Sampath Raj, Shiv Panditt and Yog Japee, among others.
