The wait is over! The much-awaited Tamil movie Scene finally arrived in theatres today (November 6). Directed by Jithu Madhavan, the action-comedy film stars Suriya, Nazriya Nazim and Naslen in lead roles. The actress returned to Tamil cinema after a 12-year gap with this film. The early morning shows witnessed packed theatres, and the first reactions have started pouring in on social media.

Netizens review Suriya's Scene

Taking to X (formerly called Twitter), one of the users called it a 'total blast' and wrote, "#Scene is a Winner. Entertaining First half filled with superb mass-packed second half. Climax face-off of Suriya and Naslen was a goosebumps-inducing theatrical moment."

Another viewer particularly enjoyed the first half, pointing out several moments that worked well with the audience. These included Suriya's character development, his screen presence and a brief dance sequence.

Naslen's performance and mannerisms also received appreciation. The viewer further praised the comedy, which reminded them of director Jithu Madhavan's familiar style, along with a surprise cameo and an interesting interval twist.

Not all the reactions were equally enthusiastic. While some viewers enjoyed the film's humour and commercial elements, one user felt that it relied too much on mild comedy without delivering enough high points.

One of them tweeted, "#Scene is that film that goes the whole way with those medium-level sweet laughs. The amount of high moments are indeed less. Indeed lands inferior to Jithu's previous works. Unsatisfying."

However, Suriya and Naslen received considerable praise across the reviews. Another moviegoer appreciated the freshness of the story leading up to the interval, calling Suriya's performance impressive and describing Naslen as charming and convincing.

The film's combination of humour, mass moments and thriller elements also found favour, while composer Sushin Shyam's music received a positive mention.

More about the movie Scene

In the movie, Suriya plays the role of a police officer, DSP Inbaraj, who is least interested in doing his job and has no plans of returning to the force. Besides Suriya, Nazriya and Naslen, the film also features an ensemble cast, including Anandaraj, Lal and Raj Priyan.

Scene is produced by Jyotika and Suriya under the banner of Zhagaram Studios. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on November 6, 2026, coinciding with Diwali.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Suriya was last seen in Venky Atluri’s romantic drama Vishwanath & Sons, which also stars Mamitha Baiju, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Raveena Tandon, Sunil Reddy, Harika, Nassar and Rajiv Menon. The film follows Sanjay Vishwanath, a successful industrialist who embraces fatherhood through surrogacy and develops a close bond with a medical student named Maddy. The film is currently streaming on Netflix.
