Malayalam film Sarvam Maya begins as a quiet story about survival before taking an unexpected turn. Nivin Pauly plays Prabhendu, a struggling musician who returns to his hometown and performs religious rituals to make ends meet. His life changes after one such ritual leads to a supernatural encounter. Riya Shibu appears as Delulu, a ghost with a playful yet emotional presence.
Champion – Netflix (January 29, 2026)
Set in the late 1940s, Champion mixes sports with history and politics. The period Telugu drama follows a young man dreaming of becoming a professional footballer at a time when the country is going through social and political upheaval. As his personal ambitions clash with a larger fight for land and identity, his journey takes an unexpected turn. Roshan Meka leads the film, while Anaswara Rajan makes her Telugu debut. Though the film received mixed responses, its popular song Gira Gira Gingiraagirey caught the audience’s attention.
Devkhel – ZEE5 (January 30, 2026)
Marathi series Devkhel is a psychological crime thriller set in a Konkan village steeped in fear and folklore. Constable – ETV Win (January 29, 2026)
Telugu investigative thriller Constable unfolds in the seemingly peaceful town of Shankarapally, where a series of ritualistic murders shakes the system. The story follows Kashi, a young police constable whose professional duty turns deeply personal when his niece becomes a victim. As he digs deeper, he realises the crimes are part of a larger, organised pattern.
Vaagai Sooda Vaa – ZEE5 (January 26, 2026)
National Award-winning Tamil film Vaagai Sooda Vaa returns to streaming, reminding viewers of the power of socially rooted storytelling. Set in the 1960s, the film follows an idealistic man posted as a teacher in a remote village, where he confronts caste discrimination and child labour. Quiet, emotional and impactful, the film uses education as a tool of resistance and change, making it a timely revisit even today.
Vaa Vaathiyaar - Prime Video (January 28)
After facing multiple delays and financial issues, Vaa Vaathiyaar, starring Karthi, finally released in theatres during Pongal after missing its original December release date and being affected by last-minute scheduling changes due to Jana Nayagan. Despite hitting the big screen, the film had a short theatrical run of just two weeks before moving to OTT. The action-comedy is now streaming on Prime Video from January 28 in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, breaking the usual four-week digital window followed in Tamil cinema.
