By default, OnePlus 5 only gives you basic app notification controls — you can either allow or block all notifications. There is an option to place them in low priority (which means they only appear at the bottom of the notification center). If you want more control on the notifications, you can enable OnePlus Laboratory — a hidden feature in the Oxygen OS (this means it should also work on the upcoming OnePlus 5T). Hold down the gear icon on the notification bar for 7 to 10 seconds and when you leave it, it will prompt you with a message saying Laboratory has been enabled. You can access it from Settings > OnePlus Laboratory and the only thing it has at the moment is enhanced notification controls. Keep in mind that you will have to go to Settings > Apps > App Name > Notifications to adjust these controls individually for each app.
