The chopped-down version of the Tab S6 does not falter. But don’t push it.

The idea of making flagship devices more accessible by launching a slightly toned-down version is not a new concept. Samsung is quite adept at it. The company recently announced its Galaxy S6 Lite tablet - the affordable version of the flagship Galaxy Tab S6.

The idea here is simple: chop the premium features from Tab S6, retain the essentials and you'll get the Tab S6 Lite. It is narrower and lighter, but that is what makes it easier to hold in both orientations. It does not feel like a cheap built.

The S6 Lite comes with a 10.4-inch LCD display, which is reasonably good and offers good viewing angles. The bezels around the screen are slim and symmetrical and this further enhances the look of the tablet. The most interesting part of the tablet is the S-Pen, which is included in the box. It is an all-new stylus that now features a sleek pencil-like design, is easy-to-use and among the best stylus we have seen so far from the company. It offers smooth traction and a realistic feel.

Performance is where the tablet could have done a relatively better job. The tablet is powered by the company's favourite mid-range processor - the octa-core Exynos 9611, which is a capable performer and handles most daily tasks with ease. It manages to run lightweight games. However, we had to reduce the graphics settings to medium to play triple-A titles.

The dual speakers offer loud and clear sound output with decent surround and bass effects, thanks to Dolby Atmos technology. The tablet runs One UI 2.1 on the tap on Android 10.

The 7040mAh battery pack manages to last over a day with medium to heavy usage. We watched almost three and a half movies, with brightness set to 75% and speaker volume at 100%, on a single charge.

The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is a good entry-level tablet and offers a decent price-to-feature ratio. If you are looking to purchase a decent tablet for browsing, watching videos, listening to songs and other casual stuff, the Tab S6 Lite is worth a look.
