Even as many experts speculate about the contours of a post-pandemic world and its impact on different businesses, one luxury designer foresees a rosy future.

“I think post-Covid, whether it’s hospitality or fashion or music or architecture or food, we will celebrate exuberance a lot more, because people will understand that the world is very finite and that our time in this world is finite,” explained designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee in a recent virtual fireside chat.

To drive home this point, he pointed to history. “This is what happened with Christian Dior post World War II, when the New Look came and exuberance started,” he said.

However, he cautioned that not all brands would enjoy this boom. “People will want to celebrate again but they will want to be cautious about how they celebrate and where they put their money. So, brands that bring authentic experiences, that have beautiful storytelling, give you beautiful products and help communities while they’re doing it will become brands of the future,” he added.
