Fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee was Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh's atelier for all their wedding functions. And as pictures from the wedding started flooding social media, Mukherjee's Instagram handle also posted pictures of the newlyweds from their wedding ceremonies with the caption, "head-to-toe in Sabyasachi for their wedding in Lake Como, Italy. "
However, now 5 days later, the 44-year-old designer posted a 'notification' on Instagram that stated that the saree worn by the actress for the Konkani wedding ceremony was in fact not designed by Mukherjee. The post clarified that the saree was bought by the bride's mother, Ujjala Padukone, from a store - Angadi Galleria - in Bengaluru.
According to tradition, the bride wears an outfit bought by the mother for the wedding. As reported by The Voice Of Fashion, Padukone and her mother bought the pure gold zari Kanjeevaram brocade silk saree along with another one from the store, and Mukherjee trimmed it and styled the actress in it for her big day.
'Angadi Galleria' also took to Instagram to confirm the news and describe the saree that had Gandaberunda (two-headed bird) motifs.
The 'Padmaavat' actors tied the knot at Lake Como in Italy in a traditional Konkani ceremony on November 14 and in a Sindhi wedding on November 15.
