Rumours suggest Pixel 4 may be cheaper than iPhone 11 Pro: But Google needs so much more to woo users

Google is all set to take the wraps off its new Pixel devices.

Will Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL be able to live up to the hype?
The launch of Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL is almost here, and the Internet is still rife with rumours. The anticipation is running high and tech enthusiasts - well, even non-tech enthusiasts are waiting with bated breath to witness what the tech giant has in store.

However, just hours before the launch, the prices of Google Pixel 4 and 4 XL were leaked online. According to droidlife, Google Pixel 4 will start at $799 (Rs 57,000 approximately), whereas Google Pixel 4 XL will start at $899 (Rs 64,200 approximately).

If these reports are to be believed, the prices will be similar to those of Pixel 3, that began at $799.

However, experts say that these leaks and rumours won't be a good enough strategy to woo users.

According to Frank Gillett, Vice President and Principal Analyst at global market research firm Forrester, Google needs to do more than just confirm rumours of the Pixel 4 and its list of flagship phone innovations at its launch event.

"Keeping the Pixel as a lighthouse Android smartphone to challenge and inspire Android OEM (original equipment manufacturers) partners won't be enough. Google needs to update their Nest line of devices. We expect to see updates to the Mini smart speaker, at a minimum, plus new Google Wi-Fi units with a smart speaker included," Gillett told IANS.

They should also update on the Google Buds, the Pixelbook laptop and the Nest Hello digital doorbell, he added.

With lots of rumours and different opinions pouring in, it will be interesting to see if Google will be able to live up to the hype and expectations.

The billboard showed the phones in orange colour, indicating that either the Pixel 4 or 4 XL will be available in the hue. This also verified the authenticity of an unofficial image posted on Chinese social network Weibo that showed an orange Pixel 4.
