Royal Diaries! Emma Thompson, Lionel Richie, Rishi Sunak, Jill Biden add star power to King Charles III's Coronation ceremony

D-Day is finally here when the United Kingdom gets its new king. Charles III and Camilla, the queen consort, will be crowned king and queen at a star-studded grand Coronation ceremony scheduled to take place around 4 PM IST at London's Westminster Abbey.

The couple departed from the palace in the Diamond Jubilee state coach this morning to Westminster Abbey, where they will be crowned in front of thousands of people. The royal couple, set to become king and queen soon, will be chauffeured on the 2-kilometer route through central London to Westminster Abbey for the two-hour Coronation ceremony.

Meanwhile at the abbey, high-profile friends of Charles and Camilla including politicians and celebrities have already started arriving for the Coronation ceremony. Dressed in royal colours with their hats and elegant gowns out for the special day, the guests were snapped already seated in their assigned seats, waiting for Charles and Camilla to take the floor.

Musicians have started warming up ahead of the ceremony.


Thousands of people from across Britain and the world have also gathered in central London for the coronation of Charles. People event camped overnight to catch a glimpse of the royals despite cloudy skies and some light rain.

Some fans of the royal family are even carrying flags and clad in the colors of the Union Jack.

The grand ceremony which is happening after decades, hasn't only become the reason behind excitement of millions of fans but also a centre of royal drama. Princes Harry and Andrew, men from the royal family with their own fair share of controversy and scams, will also be attending the coronation but will have no formal role in proceedings.

Harry, Charles's younger son, and his American wife Meghan gave up their royal duties in 2020 and have since unloaded a string of barbaric attacks on the monarchy.

Whereas Andrew, the king's eldest brother, has been thrown out of the royal picture completely after his past association with the disgraced late US financier Jeffrey Epstein came out in the public and he was accused of sexual abuse, a case that was settled out of court.
