Rohit Sharma and Adidas India join hands to create shoes that will make the oceans a safer place

For their last T20 matches against Chennai Super Kings and the Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians’s captain Rohit Sharma looked slightly different when he walked out to the pitch.

Sharma was wearing his customised Adidas shoes which have been created to spread awareness about ending plastic waste in the oceans. The spikes carry the ‘End Plastic Waste’ message on them.

And the association doesn’t end here; for the remainder of the IPL season, he will continue to don these shoes to promote his goal of making the oceans a safer and cleaner place.


In addition to this, Adidas has also decided to let Sharma’s bat do the talking: For every run he scores, Adidas India will pick up 10 plastic bottles from the beaches of Mumbai, and repurpose them into yarn for footwear and clothing.
